The Pad Warrior: 30 Day Harry Potter Challenge

Day Twelve: Favorite Ship
Oh boy. Possibly the most divisive subject in Potter fandom. People tend to get pretty militant about this sort of thing, I’ve never fully understood why.

Maybe I’m a canon purist, or maybe I’m just a sucker for watching relationships develop over…

I totally agree w/ the 1st segment. H/G relationship grew over the years. There are so many poignant beautiful moments in the books that points to that.

As to the 2nd segment - how much did Harry knew about his mother? Yes, he’s seen bits and pieces from Snape’s memories and from others that knew her well (Sirius, Lupin, Hagrid). Lily’s a brave, beautiful, emphatic individual.

Studies showed that some people fall for those sharing similar traits/characteristics to their parents (good role models). It’s the oedipus complex. So that could explain Harry’s initial attraction to Ginny.

The parallel between the two redheads - Lily & Ginny - brave, beautiful, emphatic individuals & being redheads, stop here. Lily’s a Head Girl (level headed) but Ginny’s athletic (passionate). Ginny, like her twin brothers, are mischievous and naughty and has great sense of humour.

So yeah - those other qualities that Ginny have, are what Harry loves about her. And most of all, she’s always attuned to Harry’s emotion. She doesn’t nag but find ways to connect with him.

It’s just a shame that the H/G romance was butchered in the movies *sigh

There’s the silver lining I’ve been looking for.

Paritcularly Happy Hour by ~sacha11410

Wow! Thanks for posting - this is the first time I saw this fan art. Talented sascha11410.
Why don’t we blame the producer/director/scriptwriter as well? JKR had written so many poignant beautiful H/G moments in the books that’s why you said you ship Hinny. But think about this - DH was released in 2007. The endgame is H/G, R/Hr. Why then those I mentioned didn’t made an effort to stick to canon moments, instead of presenting a weaker version of Ginny in the movies? It’s not Bonnie’s fault that the director instructed her and Dan to act ackward teenagers and w/ subdued passion for each other. In the books Hinny is not like that. Their passion for each other sizzles. Given the right material/direction - Dan/Bonnie will nail it. We saw the “I know” scene in DH2, w/c is Dan’s idea by the way. That’s what they were in canon - passionate couple. If you’d seen the other project of Bonnie (The Philosophers-post HP and Geography of the Hapless Heart-during HP), she can act.  Amongst the film version of Ginny, the one w/c has a semblance of canon!Ginny, is the GOF version. It’s unfortunate that the producer/director/scriptwriter has a totally different agenda - they ship the other ship or was pushing for a Twilight-like Trio love triangle *sigh.

“I never really gave up on you. Not really. I always hoped … Hermione told me to get on with life, maybe go out with some other people, relax a bit around you, because I never used to be able to talk if you were in the room, remember? And she thought you might take a bit more notice if I was a bit more - myself.”

One of the most poignant H/G book!moments and yet … so disappointing that this was not in the books. I blame the producer/director/scriptwriter.

Chaser!Ginny - love her being a kickass!Quiddith player. One of the may things why Harry fell hard for her.

Bonnie Wright for How To Spend It: Behind the Scenes.

I love this Bonnie’s modelling thing.
